It
was Sunday, on the tenth day of March, when all seasons of the year decided to
show their uppermost beauty for a while and the Russians won the figure skating
world championship again, which is not a piece of news. The piece of news, of
course, was that my mum missed watching the medal ceremony as I decided to say
my big “HELLO” to the world.
There
are no accidental coincidences and that’s why, being born on the day of the
Sun, I was surrounded by a colourful bunch of some divine (I can’t prove that)
and some pretty earthly storytellers whose aim was to bring me up in the sense
of enchanting flow of speech and thus giving me the right environment to
develop my extraordinary imagination.
Though
the “Wild swans” has been a leading motive throughout my life so far,
describing perfectly my personality and attitude towards overcoming challenges,
I was nicknamed after a totally different Andersen’s story – “The flying
trunk”. And it was not about the story, but the fact that a four-year-old was
heartily telling it to whoever came around.
The
life path of each storyteller has always been exciting, full of unexpected
surprises and mystic encounters. The reason behind is steady and by all means
unbeatable as the true storyteller should be able to see and collect a variety
of plots where the rest sees just nothing or listen to the same old story over
and over again.
That’s
how I found myself in the college of electronics. I spent years after my
graduation pondering what the purpose of my stay there was all about until at a
later stage I came to the conclusion that Ohm’s law is actually the perfect
formula of what we call love, viewed, of course, through the perspectives of
emotional intelligence.
That
big turnaround in my development was followed by a much smoother and enriching
activity by getting my Master’s in linguistics and decorated with a solid dose
of semiotics at its top. Interpreting verbal and non-verbal signs of speech,
and exploring the multi-layered character of metaphors streamlined my plans for
the future.
It’s
really good to have plans, but they always end up as a masterpiece of doodles
and never follow the upright vector to have been carefully built in our minds.
Thus, walking down the path of life I collected over ten years of work
experience, providing my creative energy for a number of police colleges and
academies across Europe as a lecturer and researcher.
Good
is good enough, the Dutch would say, as the intercultural experience and
reaching out for the humble human needs gave me the opportunity to look deeper
into my personality and properly define myself. The real storyteller is nothing
but a dedicated story heeder who is capable sensing the complexity of emotions
and communicates them in a simple story.
