Life’s priceless mistakes

Last days my thoughts were occupied with a quote which I randomly met among the social shares. It was about life mistakes and how much we learn from them, and what we learn is so precious that we could make some more. This quote interestingly coincided with a dilemma I tried to solve, but somehow I missed the opportunity to pick up the essence of its guideline. Thus, by trying to solve that dilemma, I learned another precious life lesson.
The moments when you catch yourself sitting and bugging your head with the question “to be or not be” or “which road to take”, are those which offer you the priceless lessons in life. Instead of wasting your time and energy on hesitation, you simply need to act. There’s nothing wrong to ask for some help or a piece of advice. That’s not going to hurt your ego as much as if you eventually find yourself in an embarrassing or quite awkward situation.
Taking the decision of what to do and how doing it should be based on your own perception of whether it feels right or wrong for you. It may coincide with what you have already collected as opinion and experience, or not at all. It may even be a mix of only those things which feel closer to you. Still, taking the decision to act and actually doing it, will definitely offer you a chance to improve yourself, either by succeeding in this endeavor or by learning an important lesson.
Perceiving life situations are above all a personal trait and it’s related to our IQ, EQ, and cultural background. What we see as a threat to others could be a golden opportunity for them and vice versa. We act and react according to our own so far gained experience and abilities to foresee the result of a given situation, which is entirely individual skills. Trying to prevent us or others from doing something, may save some headaches, but some important lessons as well.
Defining a given result as a mistake should be again your own conclusion, provided that at a later stage you may have the opportunity to see it from a completely different perspective. Still, if you have come to the point that you have made a mistake, and it’s just your ego to have been hurt, then you can simply analyse the situation and outline what you have learned. You may take some necessary steps to apologize if other people were affected as well.
The best thing about life is that it offers us a variety of situations to make us learn a given lesson, no matter how many times we will have to repeat them. Once, we may not be able to identify that we have made a mistake; the next time, we may not be able to outline the lesson or the correct lesson, even if we have the feeling to have made a mistake; to finally come to that stage of our development of being able to clearly state what we have learned and how we have done it.
